CSM Dien Hong

History
Seventeen years ago, the train called COMIT started from its first station. The train is mainly driven and lead by Le Hong Son, President and CEO of COMIT. During the beginning of the journey, there are only seven people boarding the train. Currently, there are more than 200 people on board and heading to one same destination – To become the leading regional provider of innovative solutions and services for perfecting communications, with the team of enthusiastic, talented people and devotion to customers.

To strengthen the team spirit of people on the train and in remembrance of the day the train started its journey, all the passengers of the train participate the Dien Hong Event on 5th of Nov (in some years, 2 or 3 days earlier if 5th of November falls on weekdays) annually. In this year, Dien Hong Event was held simultaneously in Vietnam, Myanmar and Philippines on 3rd of Nov, 2019 (Sunday).

Preparation
About two weeks before the event day, we all started preparing for the competition. There are three competitions - relay running, long running and cycling. Three prizes, namely FASTER, MORE CLEVER and MORE DURABLE, will be awarded. As a BO & TI team lead by our team leader Yu Yu, Tender & Contract Executive, we practiced running almost every evening after long day of work to win FASTER and DURABLE. We made the learning sessions to win MORE CLEVER.

However, there were obstacles in our way to victory. We faced the situation of short of members. Yu Yu tried very hard to collect all available members to build a strong team. She had to motivate all the busy members to participate in team meetings and daily training. Since our team is combination of back office and TI group, some of the back office members have to take the organizer role and all TI members were very busy with the projects.

At this point, we would like to mention more details about some members. Yamin and Su Su from finance department, had to take internal account exam just before the event day. They had to work daily duty, study for their exam, study COMIT history and practice running. Project team could not join most of our team meeting and study session due to their ongoing projects.

Yu Yu had to work on the strategy to solve these difficulties. As a team, we all agreed that each member had to study one chapter of COMIT history and shared to others. To share COMIT history to project team, we had to make intensive discussion thirty minutes before the competition because they cannot join most of the study sessions and meetings.

And another problem we faced is that Saw from sale team was sick on event day and not possible to participate in long running. However, our team is composed with not only colleagues but also with extended COMITERs, family members of COMITERs. Yamin’s husband actively offered to run in long running instead of Saw.

Another team member we are very proud of is Zaw Thet Aung from TI. Due to his health issue, he became very exhausted in half way of long running and not able to run anymore. But he didn’t give up. With his strong team spirit, he used all the strength he left to reach the finish line.

For cycling, we need two men and two ladies. In our team, only two girls can ride a bike. But they were too tired from first two competitions. Moreover, the bikes are too high for them and they are short. They afraid they might fell down from the bike. But we have no other person to replace and they were brave for our team. They compete in cycling.

All these difficulties and all of our effort to overcome them result in our achievement.

 The Event day
In early morning of 3rd November, 2019, some of our team members gather at the Shwe Dagon Pagoda because paying homage in early morning is very peaceful. Before the time of the event, all the team members are excited but ready for the competition. The first contest is relay running. Eight members from back office and TI group participated. We are the first team to cross the finish line first and we can answer 13 questions correctly. The second contest is long running. 9 people from back office, 1 family member and 5 people from TI group participated. All of our 15 runners finish the round within 30 minutes. In the cycling, the third game, we complete our last round in second place. After three games, we take group photos and we headed to the restaurant to fill our empty stomachs with delicious food. Before the lunch, Mr. Hoi, Managing Director, announced the award winners. We won the first prize in MORE CLEVER award and second prize in FASTER and MORE DURABLE award.

Post Reflection
Although we won only one first prize, we are very happy. This event show how strong COMITERs are. People participated in this event prove that how much they feel proud to be part of COMIT family. According to COMIT culture, we always extend our happiness to our husbands, wives and children. We invite them to join our competition and some of the family members join the event support us. During the preparation and competition, our relationship between teammates get stronger. We know each other much better. We are not only the colleagues and teammates but also become brothers and sisters. Dien Hong event is one of the remarkable and biggest event that happens every year. Our team is looking forward to 2020 Dien Hong event to win all three prizes.
