From 22nd to 23rd of April 2017, COMIT has organized the “15 Years for People – Extend Our Embracement” charity program in Sang Ma Xao commune, Bat Xat district, Lao Cao province. COMIT staffs has donated 200 charity packages including necessities, books, stationaries and clothes to underprivileged families in the area.

Sang Ma Sao is a mountainous commune of Lao Cao province with 100% of local Mong minority. With the rough terrain of vast cliffs and steep valleys surrounded by treacherous mountain ranges, the area suffers from difficult access to modernity such as electricity and economic inactivity. Consequently, the poverty rates of Sang Ma Sao soars to 70%.

With such hardship in mind, COMIT has cooperated with Congressional delegation to bring charity packages to the most underprivileged families of the commune to partly alleviate the current hardship. Even though the material value of such gifts is not abundant but those represent the generosity and kindness of COMIT staff.

At the event, Madam Le Thu Ha, Congresswoman from Lao Cao and member of Committee of Congressional Foreign Affairs, shared that despite great effort from the local authority to strengthen the area, Lao Cai is still encountering various challenges and the local people are struggling daily. Hence, the local authority and families truly appreciate the support from COMIT.
